Our BTI Aggregator delivers the distribution of high-speed edge network services with its overall ruggedness, maintainability, and minimalist design. And with its expandable, reliable, and maintainable Ethernet edge service unit, it allows you to use life safety communications and security devices in the harsh transit environment. The unit is built on a platform of industry standard devices, components, and BTI chassis shapes.
The Ethernet switch allows edge devices to operate at high speeds beyond the distance limitation imposed by station layouts. The BTI Aggregator incorporates one 8-port Ethernet switch, reducing the number of ports consumed on existing Ethernet edge and core switches in the main communications room.
The BTI Aggregator provides several different (wired and wireless) needs within a station LAN deployment. It provides edge device network connectivity—either over standard Category 5/5e/6 cabling, fiber, or via a wireless Mesh Access Point tri-band radio—along with dedicated power wiring. It includes an integrated 3×3 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) local antenna with additional provisioning for an external remote 3×3 MIMO antenna. And it connects to existing networks using Fiber or Gig E copper. Connections to client devices are made using either the integrated BTI-AP7161 Wireless Mesh Access Point radio or by standard Category 5/5e/6 cabling infrastructure; no special connectors, cable tests, or connections are required.
The BTI Aggregator also provides a reduced amount of distributed power conduits and cables—AC to DC rectification and Power over Ethernet (PoE)—eliminating concerns related to voltage drop associated with long runs of DC cabling. And it includes a UPS controller module with battery backup.
