The BTI Access Point expands wireless coverage throughout harsh transit environments including subway tunnels, platforms, depots and parking garages. It is equipped with a latest generation wireless Mesh Access Point tri-band radio. It is an expandable, reliable, and maintainable Ethernet edge service unit used for life safety communications and security.
The AP 7161 radio provides true perimeter security—24×7 rogue detection and termination—using either a dedicated dual-band sensor or software mode in 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The AP 7161 provides higher performance, greater capacity, and network resilience optimized with Motorola WiNG 5 intelligence at the edge, extending QoS, security, and mobility services to the access point. The rugged 802.11n Mesh access point provides a maximum data rate of 300 Mbps, featuring 2.4GHz, 4.9GHz, or 5.xGHz radios that support 3×3 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology.
The BTI Access Point provides concurrent around-the-clock dual-band Network Assurance sensing and wireless traffic, along with spectrum analysis, eliminating the need for separate devices. The Integrated Wireless IPS sensor option enables the configuration of one radio for 24×7 rogue detection and termination, and two others simultaneously for wireless client access and/or meshing. Patented Mesh Networking algorithms allow wireless extension of existing wired or wireless networks in remote or outdoor locations.

The unit is built on a platform of standard devices, components, and chassis shapes. The BTI Access Point solution provides wireless needs within a station LAN deployment. It is offered to provide wireless edge device network connectivity over standard 802.11n, and will support virtually any enterprise application, including voice and video.
